This jorongo or full length Mexican poncho is made in Hueyapan, Puebla. The sheep's wool becomes a textile through the use of the back strap loom, an ancient portable tool that embraces the weaver's waist. The colors are natural white and anil or indigo ( indigofera tinctoria ) obtained from a plant that produces a deep blue dye valued as one of Mexico's sacred colors.
This piece is handmade.
One size. Dry clean only.
