This jorongo or full length Mexican poncho is made in the municipality of Santo Tomas Ocotepec in Oaxaca. The hand spun sheepwool becomes a textile through the use of the back strap loom, an ancient portable tool that embraces the weaver's waist. The colours are natural white and deep red called cochineal and abtained from a parasite that lives in the cacti and is extracted since ancient times for its value as currency and sacred colour. This piece is entiry handmade.
One size. Dry clean only.
