This jorongo or full length Mexican poncho is made in the municipality of Santo Tomas Ocotepec in Oaxaca. The hand spun sheepwool becomes a textile through the use of the back strap loom, an ancient portable tool that embraces the weaver's waist. The colours are natural white and indigo ( Indigofera tinctoria ) obtained from a plant that produces a deep blue dye valued as one of Mexico's sacred colours. This piece is entiry handmade.
One size. Dry clean only.
