This three-panel or loose fitting Mexican tunic is made in San Felipe Ucila in Oaxaca. The fibers are hand spun and turned into textiles thanks to the back strap loom, an ancient portable loom that embraces the weaver's waist. The entire family participates in the creation of this pieces, which is entirely handmade. This multicolour piece is dyed with vegetable dyes such as indigo, cochineal, coconut, pomegranate and other flowers and leaves from the area. Raw silk and cotton are mixed to create the intricate textures with the input of bracade and embroidery techniques. This is a rare and very elaborate ceremonial piece with deep symbolic connotations referring to nature.
One size. Dry clean only.
