This huipil or loose fitting Mexican tunic is the work of two communities from Oaxaca. The three-panel textile is made in San Mateo del Mar using hand spun cotton on a back strap loom, an ancient portable tool that embraces the weaver's waist. The embroidery is made by artisans in Jalapa de Diaz following a tradition of "writing" their stories visually representing birds, flowers and abstract references to their landscape. This piece is entirely handmade.
One size. Dry clean only.
