The village of Tzintzuntzan is located next to lake Patzcuaro and is an area rich in aquatic reeds and natural fibers. Reeds, vines and stems are used to weave a diverse assortment of utilitarian baskets, ceremonial/religious figures and decorative ornaments.
This wall hanging is hand woven using wheat and is open to the viewer's interpretation. Some see this figure as a star, others see a mandala. The artisan admits that is is simply his representation of the infinite beauty and geometry found in nature.
